OSC delivers strategic communications training to improve collaboration, encourage buy-in, and increase confidence in environmental sector development initiatives. OSC works with stakeholders to effectively communicate key messages to improve awareness and promote informed planning and decision-making on decisions affecting natural resources. OSC develops strategic communications strategies and builds field staff capacity on projects related to water management, adaptation for climate change, biodiversity, and ecosystem sustainability.
OSC works in Southern Africa to increase awareness of the Resilience in the Limpopo Basin Program, helping to improve trans-boundary water management of the basin and support equitable access to water. OSC is helping the program to better balance urban and rural needs with ecosystem requirements in parts of South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Botswana. On the Famine Early Warning Systems (FEWS NET) III project, OSC supports rapid decision-making among NASA, NOAA, USGS scientists, and USDA/FAS. OSC is led a redesign of the FEWS NET website, fashioning it into a food security knowledge management hub and famine monitoring/warning portal capable of housing critical information and pushing messages and information to target audiences. OSC works on other projects to educate stakeholders on the progress and benefits of energy sector reform, and to promote behavior change related to the adoption of clean energy practices.
